Our Learning This Week...

Hello! Here' a peek at our week....

In ELAL, students listened to the story 'The Worst Best Friend'. Then we talked about the qualities of a good friend.  Students worked through the writing process again focusing on brainstorming and planning. After filling in a graphic organizer with their ideas they used their plan to write several sentences about what makes a good friend. Lastly, they checked their work for  capitals, periods and spaces.

In math, students continued their exploration of addition and subtraction. They learned how to use a numberline to solve basic facts questions.

Students also learned about fact families and how addition and subtraction equations are related to each other.

In science, students learned about natural and processed (man-made) materials. They sorted objects using various criteria including whether an object was made from natural or processed materials.

In social, we began to investigate the regions of Canada beginning with the interior plains. Students focused on the natural resources of the region.

We also began learning about some of the landmarks in our community. Our first landmark we dtudied was the Calgary Tower. Students watched a video about the Tower. Then they created a list of facts they learned and copied them into their notes.

In gym we have been learning about volleyball.

We ended the week with a visit from our Buddies. The students played some fun math games andnlookedvat books together.
