Here's a look at our learning : )

In language arts, the students began planning their fractured fairy tale stories. They began by drawing their characters, setting and story events. Then they began writing the first draft of their stories.
In math, students learned about measurement. First they brainstormed different types of measurement such as length, height, and weight. Then they learned how to properly measure objects using either comparison or units. Students practiced using non-standard units of measurement to find the length, height and width of various items.
In science, they continued to learn about the needs of plants and animals. First they played a game in which they had to trade cards to get their needs met. Then we looked at the different ways that plants and animals get their food. At the end of the day on Friday, we went outside and planted some seeds in some cups. Next week we will begin recording how they grow!
In gym, students have been learning a game called "Oh, Deer!" in which they are either an animal (i.e. deer) or something the animal needs (i.e. food, water, shelter). The students stand in two lines opposite each other and face away from each other. Then they make the sign for food (hands on tummy), water (hands on mouth) or shelter (hands above heads). When the teacher says "Go!" they turn around and the deer run to the opposite line to a student who has the same sign as they do and then run back together. If a deer cannot find someone with the same sign then they "die" and join the other line.

Google Classroom is available for students to access. Below are instructions for logging in.
Please note that the use of activities in our Google Classroom is optional. These are not assigned, but are offered as extra activities that can support some of the learning we are doing in class. We will also be using the websites during class throughout the year at different times. If you have trouble logging in or questions about the classroom, let me know. If you need your child's email or password information let me know. I can resend it.

Login Instructions: Logging in the first time...
1. Go to classroom.google.com
2. Click Go to Classroom
3. Enter the email address for your Classroom account. (I will email this to you).
4. Click Next.
5. Enter your password. (Everyone's password is: 12345678)
6. Click Next.
7. If there is a welcome message, review it.
8. Click Accept.
9. If you're using a Google Workspace, click I'm a Student.
10. Click Get Started.
