Our Learning This Week....

Here's a look at our week : ) --------------------------------------------------- In language arts, students began learning how to do a retelling using loose parts. They sat in a circle and built their setting using a variety of small items to be the characters, buildings, plants, animals, and other objects in the story. Then we took turns retelling a different part of the story. Today we did a retelling of 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. Students were guided to do their retelling as if they were actually telling the story and to use words and phrases from the book to make their retelling more interesting. For example, when talking about the giant wanting to eat Jack they included the 'Fee, Fi, Fo, Fum! I smell the blood of an Englishman!" line in their retelling. Ms. V even tried to used some funny voices to be the different characters. In math, we continued talking about patterns.
