Our Learning This Week...

Hello! It was a short but busy week. Here's what we have been up to : )  Remembrance Day Assembly Request  Our school will be honouring Remembrance Day on November 7th with a ceremony and a special school display. We invite families to take part in our Wall of Heroes by sharing a photo and a short description of a family member who has served in the military. If you would like to contribute or have any questions, please email your photo and information to Julie Lowry at  julowry@cbe.ab.ca   --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This week in writing, we learned how to take a kernel sentence and stretch it out by adding interesting details about the who, what, when, where, why, and how . For example, instead of writing, “The dog sits,” we can make it more descriptive and detailed: “The cute dog sits on the carpet next to the fireplace at night to stay warm.” Students had lots of fun adding their own cre...

Hello! It's hard to believe that it is already October! Where did the time go? Although this was a short week the students have been busy learning many things. Have a look! This week students began working in their printing booklets. Each student was also given a 'Printing Pal' (sock puppet) to help them achieve and maintain proper pencil grip when writing. Students began by learning how to correctly write the letter /c/ also called 'Magic C'. Ours are not quite as fancy as this, but you get the idea : )  'Magic C' is a very important letter because it forms the basis of many other letters. If a student can properly form the letter /c/ they can use that to print many other letters such as /o/, /a/, /d/, /g/, q/ and /s/. Students also practiced starting their letters at the top.
