Our Learning this Week....
Here's a sneak peek at our week : ) --------------------------------------------------- This week we have been busy working in our reading groups practicing our sounds, playing games, reviewing high frequency words and decoding (sounding out) simple stories. We have also learned about the concepts of singular and plural nouns. Students know that singular means one and plural means more than one. We watched a video explaining the meaning of both and what happens to the spelling of a word when there is more than one (e.g. cat ---> cats) Students also learned that sometimes when we add an /s/ to the end of a word it can sound like /s/ or it can sound like /z/. The /s/ is used for both sounds (e.g. bugs, dogs vs. cats, bats). This can make spelling these words tricky as it sounds like a /z/ but it's actually an /s/. We practiced listening for and sorting pictures based on the sound of the /s/. In writing, we have been working on fixing sentences and rewriting them...
